About Deendayal
Deen Dayal Jan Awas Yojana (DDJAY) is an affordable housing scheme launched by the Government of Haryana to promote high-density plotted colonies in low- and medium-potential towns of the state. The scheme is a part of the Haryana Government’s vision to make housing affordable for all, particularly for the middle and lower-income groups. Under DDJAY, the development of residential plots ranging from 60 to 150 square yards is encouraged, to create well-planned and sustainable urban environments. These plots are offered with the necessary infrastructure, including water supply, sewage systems, roads, and electricity. The scheme also mandates the development of community facilities such as parks, schools, and healthcare centers, ensuring a comfortable and convenient lifestyle for residents.
The Deen Dayal Jan Awas Yojana is notable for its emphasis on optimizing land utilization, which in turn encourages effective land use and curbs urban development. The scheme allows for a higher Floor Area Ratio (FAR), enabling the construction of multi-story buildings on the plots. This maximizes the use of available space and lowers the cost of the dwelling units.
DDJAY is implemented in collaboration with private developers, who are incentivized to participate in the scheme by the Haryana Government. These developers are responsible for the acquisition of land, development of infrastructure, and sale of plots to eligible beneficiaries. The government, on its part, facilitates the process by providing necessary approvals and clearances promptly, thereby expediting project execution.
The scheme has been well-received, particularly in cities like Gurgaon, Faridabad, Sonipat, and Panipat, where the demand for affordable housing is high. It provides an opportunity for people to own a home at a reasonable price while enjoying the benefits of planned urbanization.
